Hibernian course great success!
For the second year in a row Last Line Goalkeeping School was chosen by Hibernian FC to give their Hibs Kids a week of specialised goalkeeping training. The weather was excellent, as was the commitment shown from all the budding young goalkeepers.
We would like to extend our thanks to the parents and kids for making it such an enjoyable week. Below is a group photo from the course, including the guest visit from Hibs players Steven Fletcher and Colin Nish (click to enlarge)

Goalkeeping School Officially Full
2008 sees new records broken at Last Line's season long training school. We have our highest recorded number of goalkeepers since our launch in 2003.
Unfortunately this means we are unable to accept any more goalkeepers at any age group for the remainder of the season but we want to thank everyone for their continued interest in the Goalkeeping School and I urge you, if you haven't already, to sign up to the newsletter (located in the left hand menu). It is the quickest and easiest way to find out about the latest course information offered at Last Line.
More Regional Success for Last Line Keepers
This season has seen many Last Line goalkeepers being selected for both SFA development and regional squads. Last Line regular Connor is the latest talent to emerge. He has been selected to represent Midlothian for their county' squad. Furthermore Connor is currently trialing with the Regional squad. Well done Connor!
More exciting news to report is that Last Line member Michael represented Edinburgh in the regional qualifiers held at Meggetland last week. This involved a qualifying competition encompassing teams such as East Ayrshire, Hamilton and East Lothian. Edinburgh put in an excellent performance, winning every one of their games...without conceding a single goal!
This has secured Edinburgh's place in the Scottish National Primary Schools Cup Final, taking place on the 24th of November at Meggetland. Good Luck Michael!
Latest Happenings at Last Line Goalkeeping School
It has been a very busy few months at Last Line since we restarted our weekly schedule. Our Friday evening sessions are proving to be an enormous hit with many local keepers and we are now seeing record numbers of budding shot stoppers coming to our weekly sessions at the Hearts Academy. In addition, our tie ups with Salvesen BC, Spartans BC, Currie Star and Edina Hibs BC are ongoing - with weekly club sessions being provided by us at their own training venues. As a result we now have an outreach of around 80 goalkeepers in the Edinburgh area.

Our Homegrown Talent
Several of our mainstay club members have been progressing extremely well of late and we have had many pieces of exciting news over the last few weeks.
Firstly, Last Line Seniors Champion 2007 and current Last Line coach has signed for East Fife.
Last Line stalwart, Kerr has also put pen to paper across the bridge, in signing for Raith Rovers. Meanwhile, Kid Gloves keeper, Jamie has been training with both Dunfermline and Hearts whilst fellow Kid Glove shot stopper Matthew and fellow keeper Connar are also currently training at East End Park.
On the SFA front there has been a number of pieces of exciting news. Stuart has been selected for the Edinburgh and East Region squads, and only this week was at national level trials for Scotland. Last Line Junior Champion 2007, Chris has similarly been selected by the SFA for the Edinburgh/Region Development Squads. Chris has also been invited to spend next summer working with top coaches from the Serie A in Italy - a deserved follow up to his performances at the Ajax Academy last summer.
Meanwhile, in what might be the most unusual SFA call up from a Last Line perspective, Michael has been selected to represent Edinburgh by the SFA in their Edinburgh Select squad. However, the selection is on the basis of Michael actually playing outfield as a defender or midfielder! Are there no ends to our keepers' talents we wonder?
Last Line would like to congratulate all of the boys on their exciting news and are sure there will be further developments to report over the coming months of the season...
Well done Andy, Stuart, Chris, Michael, Jamie, Matthew, Connar and Kerr!!

Last Line Goalkeeper hits the headlines
Last season's Junior Goalkeeper of the year, has been making quite a name for himself in the Edinburgh Evening News. The newspaper wrote an article covering Chris's once in a lifetime trip to the Ajax training centre in Holland this summer to train as an elite goalkeeper.

We hope Chris is having a wonderful time and I am sure he will be able to teach us a thing or two when he returns!
Hibernian course with Last Line

The 23rd - 27th of July saw Last Line Goalkeeping School and Hibernian FC join forces to run a specialised goalkeeping course for budding young goalkeepers in and around Edinburgh.

Special recognition goes to young Stephen, who we selected as our goalkeeper of the week. Stephen got the chance to show off his goalkeeping skills to a crowd of over nine thousand at the half time interval of the Hibernian vs. Middlesbrough match at Easter Road. Needless to say he kept his cool and made a number of good saves. Well done Stephen!

Summer Academy with Zapkam
LLGS has teamed up with Zapkam Goalkeeping for our Summer Academy 2007.
Zapkam are football suppliers who specialise in high-quality, low cost goalkeeping gloves.

Having personally used Zapkam gloves, the quality is superb. Furthermore I have yet to see better prices for goalkeeping gloves online. Highly recommended!
Goalkeeping School Presentation Evening
The 18th May 2007 marked the end of our goalkeeper's season-long training. Our presentation evening took place at Peffermill Playing Fields, Edinburgh.

A special thanks goes to our guest of the evening, Scotland U21 and Hibernian FC's first choice goalkeeper Andy McNeil.
A great night was had by all and congratulations to all our award winners.
